This is a tutorial for creating tones for comics and art in Photoshop using only the Halftone Pattern filter and some other tools.

This isn't the only way to tone comics and art, but it is one way for those who don't have access to pre-made tones.

I've included a lot of instructions for those who might not be familiar with many of Photoshop's options.

Let me know if this tutorial is useful or if some things could be clearer.

For clarification, I currently use Photoshop 7 for Mac, so if things are different in the CS/Windows versions I apologize.

I'll skip part eight thank you :XD: hm easy method, I usually use the clonebrush, make my tones patterns and then use patternclone

No way! This is awesome! I didn't even know you could do tone on photoshop!!! I'm getting it for Christmas, and this tutorial is gonna be super helpful. Faves.

8D Wonderful! I'm trying to start a comic right now, and I need to decide on color or toning; since I didn't know how to tone, I thought I'd be stuck with endless pages of full-detail CGing, but maybe not~! I shall study your tutorial and be very happy that you made it. ^^ Thank you!
